About Inspire community music

Inspire now has a new website – if you haven’t been redirected automatically, click www.inspirecommunitymusic.org to see the latest news, our Songbook and recordings!

Inspire aims to broaden access to community music by working in partnership with local support organisations in Edinburgh to offer opportunities for people to take part in music who might not otherwise get the chance to do this.

Our current project, Inspire 3, has just finished. We have been working with The Bethany Trust, The Alma Project, Barony Contact Point, The Serenity Cafe, The Hive and Cunningham House, with funding from The Esmee Fairbairn Trust, The Robertson Trust, and a very generous private donation. Alongside continued funding from The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and The Robertson Trust, we now have funding from Creative Scotland to continue from September 2015 until August 2017, so watch this space for news of groups, our new Inspire Choir and a variety of creative projects!

Keep an eye on our blog for news!

The first Scots Music Group Inspire Project (now known as Inspire 1) took place in 2010-11, supported by Creative Scotland, The Robertson Trust, Corstorphine Rotary Club and private donations of instruments, money and time. It culminated in a showcase concert during the Leith Festival which surpassed all our expectations, and which was hailed by the audience as “professional”, “moving” and “inspirational”.

During Inspire 2 (2012-13), we worked with The Bethany Trust, YMCA Edinburgh, The Alma Project, Edinburgh Cyrenians and The Rock Trust. Inspire 2 was funded by Creative Scotland, The Robertson Trust, The Margaret Murdoch Trust, The High Constables of Edinburgh and many in-kind donations of instruments, time and expertise.
